Cayman Islands Areas, Towns and Communities
West Bay: One of the more essential districts or towns in Grand Cayman. Located just north of Seven Mile Beach, This is a popular area for rentals for the workers and employees who work at Kimpton, The Westin and The Ritz Carlton, Homeowners who work at Camana Bay or Downtown George Town have an easy commute to the businesses. There are many beautiful family homes, as well as undeveloped parcels of land for building and oceanfront condos in West Bay.
Seven Mile Beach: The most desirable part of the island, Seven Mile Beach boasts luxury waterfront condos that are either owner-occupied or are luxury short-term vacation rentals. There is canal-front homes and golf courses community that have homes and condos. This area of the island has most of the famous restaurants all within walking distance. Some canal communities are called Crystal Harbour, Governors Harbour, Canal Point, Clipper Bay, Britannia Condos and DART - Camana Bay.
George Town: George Town - George Town is the capital of the Cayman Islands. This principal city is the largest of the three Islands. It sits on the southwest side of Grand Cayman.
South Sound: South Sound - is just outside of George and there are several different properties to chose from, including beachfront condominiums, luxury homes with large lots, modest duplexes. Here will find the Rugby, Tennis and Squash Club, a public dock, beaches.
Prospect - Close to George Town, The Grand Harbour Shoppes are host to Hurley’s Supermarket, shops and restaurants. This is where you find the family-friendly famous Black Pearl skate park.
Bodden Town: This local area is east of George Town. This area offers rustic ocean views and local culture, beautiful sandy beachfront parks.
East End: A more rural part of the island, where a lot of farmland. There are large mango farms and were we also enjoy farm to table products. Here you can find waterfront property to purchase that is away from busy George Town, but still close enough to the conveniences of Owen Roberts international airport and grocery stores.
Cayman Kai: Located northeast of Seven Mile Beach, this area is full of luxury homes, beachfront prosperities, canal homes that make you feel you’ve stepped back in time. A favourite among investors looking to purchase vacation properties, Cayman Kai and the nearby Rum Point offers island life living to the max.
Little Cayman and Cayman Brac also called the "Sister Islands" Little Cayman - located about 5 miles west of Cayman Brac. Cayman Brac is 89 miles NE of Grand Cayman. Some fewer residents live and work on the other two sister islands, Cayman Brac has approximately 2,000 people, and Little Cayman has only 200 to 500 people. The best way to gain access to either of the two islands is to fly on Cayman Airways from Grand Cayman. Helicopters and small plans can land on the grass runway in Little Cayman; however, Cayman Brac can accommodate larger private jets and Boeings 737. You can take a motorboat or sail, but it would take you anywhere from 6 hours to 24 hours to sail.
Cayman Brac: (Brac is Gaelic, and its meaning is Bluff) The island is 12 miles long and about 1.5 miles wide and 15 sq miles. The highest point is “The Bluff,” which is 140 feet above sea level. The Bluff is a limestone that rises steadily along the length of the island; One can hike, and watch the different type of birds an there is also rock climbing and bird watch along the rural landscape. We suggest you take the 40 min flight to from Grand Cayman to Cayman Brac on a smaller plan, usually a Saab or a twin prop plan it is worth the experience.
Little Cayman, is a good name because it is the smallest of the three islands. There are only about 200 residents that live on Little Cayman because it is remote and is only 10 square miles, 10 miles long and just over one mile wide. However, because it is so small, you can borrow any bike that is around the cycle and leave it at your next destination. Unlike Cayman Brac the highest point of the island is only 40 feet above sea level.
